As we wrap up 2017, we begin to reflect on all things surrounding the catering world both past, present and future. This year, we saw all sorts of food trends – casual fare with an elevated twist, mini bites, and custom fusion menus to wow any guest. We had a blast creating some of the most unique menus to date, and 2018 is sure to be full of those interesting takes on our classic favorites.
- Twists on the Classics:
We at B. Gourmet have always prided ourselves on taking a classic, Southern dish and giving it a fresh new perspective – take our Carolina Pulled Pork Wontons, for example. Classic, Southern flavor with an Asian twist using a baked Wonton crisp as a serving vessel… Take our Shrimp and Grits. While traditionally, Shrimp and Grits are cooked in a sausage or ham tasso gravy, we like ours with a little French inspiration – white wine butter sauce and parmesan grits.
2) Comfort foods:
Coming into 2018, we forsee our B. Gourmet couples taking risks with their menus, and taking their inspiration not only from Pinterest, but also from their daily lives, hometowns, or favorite foods to eat with their family and friends. One of our favorite aspects of our line of work is making our cuisine personal and memorable. We feel one of the best ways to achieve this is to incorporate favorite foods into the wedding menu.
3) Food Aesthetics:
We also would love to see more fun plays on food displays! Bookshelves, interesting serving vessels, and unique colors and textures of serving trays create a memorable experience that guests will rave about.
4) Craft Cocktails and Drink Pairing
Nothing makes food taste better than enjoying it alongside a great cocktail! We love when clients think outside the box and include signature drinks or pair their favorites foods with a accompanying cocktail. How cute are these mini mojitos and taco duos?
Wishing all of our clients and vendors a happy and healthy start to 2018!
